Fact of the Month

Women’s History Month

On October 18, 1929, women were finally considered to be a legal person. A group of women advocated that October should be the month to encourage Canadians to have a greater appreciation for the contributions women have made to society. Women have been able to accomplish many barriers to equality over the years such as,

  • Equal pay
  • Better working conditions
  • Equal opportunities
  • Become a legal person

The theme for this year’s Women’s History Month is ‘Honoring Trailblazing women in labor and business’. For more information on Women’s History Month see link below. http://www.nwhp.org/womens-history-month/2017-honoree-nominations/
