\nCommunity Accountability Panels\n<\/h2>
\nWhen the person harmed does not want to participate in restorative justice or when the crime is committed against retailers and businesses with no direct victims, the person responsible attends a community accountability panel (CAP), where trained volunteers guide them and their supporters through the resolution process.\n<\/div>

\nWhen the person responsible and person harmed are willing and able to participate in the restorative justice process, we set up a victim-offender conference (VOC), where parties involved meet face to face with each other, their supporters, and a group of trained community volunteers.\n<\/div>

After the\u00a0Restorative Circle<\/a><\/span>, the Mentor program provides the Responsible Person with a Mentor who intentionally supports the Responsible Party to set goals for Relationships, Health, Housing, Employment, and Education. The Responsible Person thereby becomes the \u201cMentee\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The primary objective of the Mentor program is to strengthen Mentees\u2019 resilience to the risk factors that are known to lead to victimization, violence, and criminal activities. Also, being matched with a responsible, caring adult will enable the Mentee to receive support and encouragement at a time when he\/she needs to make restitution or amends to victims or the community. This can increase the likelihood that the Mentee will complete the resolution agreement successfully and will not re-offend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mentees can be involved in the crime based\u00a0Restorative Response<\/a><\/span>\u00a0or from the\u00a0Restorative Response in the Schools<\/a><\/span>\u00a0of the Upper Fraser Valley. The Mentors serve as consistent and positive role models who plan one-to-one activities that will provide the Mentee they are assigned to work with, with opportunities to experience success and achievement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>
